zimbabwe Zimbabwe is a land rich in diversity ranging from low lying semi-deserts to lush highlands strewn with forests and lakes. Whether it is your first trip to Zimbabwe or not, there is no shortage of things to see and do in Zimbabwe. From history to art, culture to the outdoors, Zimbabwe attractions are plentiful.Perhaps you have seen postcards, holiday snaps or film footage of the seventh wonder of the world, Victoria Falls. But have you actually been fortunate enough to stand beside the “Mosi-oa-tunya” (smoke that thunders) as locals call it. Watching and listening as the roar of the 546 million cubic meters of water, minute by minute, plunge down into 100meter deep gorge below. Today Victoria Falls is a popular holiday destination for honeymooners, families and adventure seekers. Remarkably preserved in its natural state- Victoria Falls has been called the “greatest known curtain of falling water”- and it is truly a spectacular site to see.

There is a magic about them manifested in the towering column of spray when the river is high, the thunder of the falling water, the terrifying abyss and tranquil lagoons upstream in which hippo and crocodiles lurk. The falls have excellent viewpoints all around them but one stands out above the rest, the Devils Pool. A naturally formed pool right on the edge of the falls where visitors can swim during times when water levels are slow. A must for thrill seekers guaranteed to give you an adrenaline rush. Along the edge of the Victoria Falls forest is a path, which provides an inspiring vantage point, for those who brave the tremendous spray. Another impressive view is from the “knife edge bridge” where visitors can see the main parts of the Victoria Falls, as well as the Eastern cataract and the Boiling Pot. Other vantage points include the Falls Bridge and the Lookout Tree, both of which provide amazing panoramic scenes across Victoria Falls. For a different kind of view and thrill visitors can take boat trips at the base of the falls during suitable times. Tour operators offer both high speed and low speed experiences, and for an Ariel view, tour operator’s offer services with different kinds of aircrafts for true spectacular views. The Victoria Falls are an adventurers dream given the amount of activities available. You can Kayak , Canoe, abseil, river board , swing through the gorge, horse ride, can do bungee jumping, white water rafting , sundowner cruise which is the popular pastime and elephant back rides. There are also many hikes and casual walks around Victoria fall. Of the many things to see and do in this beautiful area one is the wild life viewing. The two National Parks at the falls, Mosi-oa-Tunya National park and Victoria Falls National park contains abundant wildlife including sizeable population of Elephant, Lion, Zebra, Buffalo, Giraffe, Antelope, Leopard, Vervet Monkeys, Baboons, Hippopotamus and crocodiles. Game viewing via boat or open vehicles is a popular activity above the falls. If you are planning a trip to Zimbabwe you simply have to witness this mile-long curtain of falling water. As the explore David Livingstone remarked when he first saw them “scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight”.
